Algiers, Algeria | October 6th, 2024 — In a sobering and impassioned statement, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune addressed the escalating crisis in the Middle East, warning of the severe implications if the current trajectory of violence and instability continues unchecked. Speaking in a televised interview, the president voiced his deep concerns over the rapidly deteriorating situation, driven by the “unbridled use of force” by the Zionist government.
Tebboune did not mince words when describing the gravity of the situation: “Given the current circumstances, a full-scale war in the Middle East is no longer a distant possibility—it is a looming reality.” He lambasted the Zionist entity’s continued military atrocities and its systematic oppression of the Palestinian people, which he described as “genocide.” “The Zionist government’s abusive use of force has created an environment where conflict is inevitable. Their actions have undermined any possibility of peace and have led the region down a path of destruction,” Tebboune warned, urging immediate international intervention to prevent further escalation.
The president also criticized the failure of international institutions, particularly the United Nations, to uphold their responsibilities in preventing atrocities. He argued that the global governance system, which was established in the aftermath of World War II to maintain peace and protect vulnerable populations, has become ineffective in the face of modern conflicts. “The institutions that were designed to prevent genocide and war crimes are no longer functioning. We are living in a world governed by the law of the jungle, where power, not justice, dictates outcomes,” Tebboune lamented. His call for a comprehensive reform of the United Nations and its Security Council, which he argued holds disproportionate power, was a central theme in his message. “Five countries control the fate of the entire world. This imbalance must be addressed if we are to restore any semblance of international law and order,” he concluded.
