Sofiane Chaïb Underscores Algeria’s Open Door Policy for Medical and Knowledge-Based Investments

Algiers, Algeria | February 19th, 2025 — In a significant step toward reinforcing the role of the Algerian diaspora in national development, Sofiane Chaïb, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, participated in a high-level consultation organized by the Algerian Consulate General in Frankfurt. The meeting, held via video conference with the Association of Algerian Doctors in Germany and chaired by Dr. Abdel Rahim Chenouf, focused on “Medical Entrepreneurship in Algeria” and explored pathways to enhance investment in the country’s healthcare sector.

During his address, Chaïb emphasized the strategic importance President Abdelmadjid Tebboune places on encouraging Algerians abroad to seize investment opportunities in their homeland. He reiterated that the government is fully committed to integrating the expertise of the national diaspora into Algeria’s economic transformation, particularly in knowledge-driven sectors such as healthcare and medical innovation.

Highlighting the critical role of highly skilled Algerians abroad, Chaïb underscored their potential to drive progress in the country’s healthcare system by sharing their expertise, transferring successful models, and actively participating in development projects. He stressed that Algeria’s social-state model is built upon strong public health foundations and that the input of diaspora professionals is vital to strengthening this pillar.

The consultation also provided a platform to showcase Algeria’s expanding investment landscape in the medical field. Chaïb reaffirmed the government’s readiness to facilitate diaspora-led initiatives, citing a host of mechanisms designed to foster collaboration between Algerian doctors inside and outside the country. These include policy incentives, professional exchange programs, and regulatory frameworks aimed at bridging expertise gaps in the healthcare sector.

With Algeria’s healthcare infrastructure undergoing significant modernization and expansion, the government is actively fostering an environment conducive to high-impact medical investments.
