ALGIERS- President Abdelmadjid Tebboune held a periodic meeting with representatives of the national press, the details of which will be broadcast in full this Saturday at 10:00 PM on national television channels, as announced by the presidency in a statement.
During this highly anticipated encounter, President Tebboune made noteworthy declarations covering a range of crucial topics, including the pivotal issue of salary increases.
“We will strive to double salaries by 2026/2027. That means we are at 47%, and we plan an increase to reach 53%,” President Tebboune emphasized during the meeting, shedding light on the imperative of enhancing salaries to uphold purchasing power.
In the realm of economic development, the President unveiled ambitious plans, stating that “in the first half of 2026, our GDP will surpass 400 billion dollars,” underscoring Algeria’s commitment to robust economic growth.
Responding to inquiries regarding Algerians residing abroad irregularly, President Tebboune expressed firm resolve, declaring, “Within two months, I will no longer hear about this issue”.
Turning to the pressing Palestinian issue, President Tebboune articulated a stance echoing solidarity and justice. “It is high time for Palestine to become a full member of the UN, even while under occupation,” he affirmed, emphasizing the urgency of recognizing Palestine’s legitimate rights on the international stage.
