ALGIERS- In a plenary session at the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, the Speaker of the Council, emphasized the significant public support witnessed during the recent visits of the President of the Republic to the Djelfa and Tindouf provinces. Goudjil asserted that these visits showcased the genuine image of the new Algeria and the people’s adherence to its transformative directions.

Addressing the session dedicated to voting on the 2024 budget bill in the presence of government members, Goudjil remarked that the adopted budget was distinctive, not only due to its substantial allocation but also considering the political context, occurring four years after the president’s election to the highest office.

Reflecting on the unique political circumstances surrounding the December 2019 presidential election, which portrayed a radiant image of Algeria, Goudjil highlighted the accomplishments achieved during this period, with “77% of the 54 commitments of the president materialized.” He emphasized that Algeria has regained its rightful place on the international stage while preserving the independence of its decisions, a crucial aspect, he noted.

In terms of the economy, Goudjil expressed confidence that, after four years of the president’s mandate, the national economy is on a positive trajectory to secure the country’s future.

On the social front, he underscored the commitment to the social character of the state, aligning with the principles of November 1st, which are no longer empty slogans.

Regarding politics, the President of the Council emphasized the significance of the 2020 Constitution, embodying the concept of the new Algeria founded on democratic choices.

He also highlighted the role of the People’s National Army (ANP) as the “guarantor of the country’s unity and a source of pride for the Algerian people.”

Reiterating Algeria’s unwavering support for the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes, Goudjil affirmed that “Algeria will always support the liberation of peoples and their right to self-determination.”

In the context of the Palestinian cause, he stressed its centrality for Algeria, proud of the sacrifices made by the Palestinian people and the setbacks faced by Zionist forces in Gaza.

Concerning the Sahrawi question, Goudjil reiterated Algeria’s position favoring a self-determination referendum, expressing conviction that “the Sahrawi people will eventually decide their future freely.”
