Presidential Adviser Kamel Sidi Saïd Congratulates El Khabar on 34 Years of Journalistic Excellence and the Launch of El Khabar TV

Algiers, Algeria | November 03rd, 2024 — In a gesture of recognition for El Khabar’s 34th anniversary, the Presidential Adviser in charge of Communication, Mr. Kamel Sidi Saïd, accompanied by the General Director of Algerian Television, Mr. Mohamed Baghali, visited the newspaper’s headquarters in the capital on November 1. The visit underscored the nation’s appreciation for El Khabar’s longstanding contribution to journalism in Algeria.

The leadership of El Khabar warmly welcomed the distinguished visitors, with members of the board, the general director, and the editor-in-chief present to receive them. These reforms include significant legislative developments—such as the Organic Law on Information, the Audiovisual Activity Law, and regulations for print and digital media—that aim to reshape Algeria’s media environment with a focus on ethics, regulation, and public accountability.

During the discussions, Mr. Sidi Saïd and Mr. Baghali were briefed on El Khabar’s ambitious plans for growth, including the launch of its web-based channel, El Khabar TV. This initiative marks a new era for the publication as it steps into audiovisual media, setting the stage for the upcoming launch of an upgraded digital platform incorporating cutting-edge AI technologies, scheduled for January. This advancement positions El Khabar as the first African news outlet to integrate artificial intelligence extensively into its digital offerings.

The adviser’s visit also provided him with an opportunity to tour the newsroom, where he engaged in conversations with El Khabar’s editors and journalists. Discussions covered the challenges and demands of daily journalism as well as topical national and international issues. Mr. Sidi Saïd concluded his tour by visiting the studio of El Khabar TV, where he gave the official signal for the production of the inaugural episode of the sports show Talounad, produced by the newspaper’s sports team.

Reaffirming President Tebboune’s commitment to media and communication as pivotal to Algeria’s progress, Mr. Sidi Saïd highlighted the President’s unwavering dedication to the sector’s development, ensuring citizens’ right to information. He underscored that ongoing reforms would further elevate media standards, providing Algerians with transparent and reliable information.
