President’s Address at the Opening of the 2nd African Startup Conference in Algiers

ALGIERS- In a notable event at the 2nd African Startup Conference held in Algiers, the President of the Republic delivered a compelling address, read on his behalf by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui. The President extended a warm welcome to all participants and emphasized the significance of the conference in fostering African collaboration to address the challenges of digital transition and knowledge economy.

Positive Outcomes from the 1st Conference

Reflecting on the positive outcomes of the 1st conference, the President celebrated the establishment of the continental startup roadmap and the adoption of the Algiers Declaration for startup development in Africa. These decisions, supported by the 42nd session of the African Union Executive Council, align with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, aiming to build an integrated and prosperous Africa.

Entrepreneurship as a Catalyst for Change

Addressing the prevalent challenge of high youth unemployment in Africa, the President emphasized the transformative power of entrepreneurship, particularly in innovation-driven startups. He urged African governments to prioritize and support startups, recognizing their proven ability to elevate economies globally.

The President highlighted the importance of adopting innovative entrepreneurship as a primary mechanism to combat unemployment, encouraging African governments to wholeheartedly support startups.
