ALGIERS- In a challenging period for Mohammed VI, his open betrayal of the Palestinian cause since the infamous “deal of the century” faces criticism from former ministers, academics, and intellectuals in Morocco.
A petition released on Thursday urged the country to cancel normalization agreements with the Zionist entity “in support of the Palestinian people.” This comes after Moroccan personalities signed a petition advocating the reversal of normalization.
Among the signatories are former ministers, artists, academics, unionists, and media figures, including former Justice Minister Mustafa Ramid, former Family Minister Hamliya Al-Musli, and former Higher Education Minister Hassan Daoudni.
Prominent human rights activists and writers, such as Khaled Al-Sufyani and Khannath Bannouna, also endorsed the petition, along with academics like Ahmed Al-Raysouni and Ahmed Kafi.
The statement argues that “normalization only increases the Zionist entity’s intransigence, arrogance, and the continuation of killings, displacements, and crimes.” The petition signatories called on the Moroccan state to “permanently close the Israeli liaison office and definitively withdraw the Moroccan liaison office in Tel Aviv.”
The petition condemns the Zionist entity’s genocidal war in Gaza and the West Bank. On December 10, 2020, the Zionist entity and Morocco announced the resumption of diplomatic relations, previously suspended in 2000.
On the same month’s 22nd, the Moroccan government signed a “joint declaration” between Morocco, the Zionist entity, and the United States during the first official Zionist-American delegation visit to Rabat.
This petition, led by Morocco’s elite, follows a recent march in Rabat against normalization, drawing over 10,000 participants. The Makhzen regime, already plagued by corruption and predation, is in advanced stages of agony due to its betrayal of the Palestinian cause. Moreover, the Islamists of the PJD, who served as its “airbag” during the Arab Spring, have now rediscovered the paths of opposition and protest.
Hamas, through its foreign representative Khaled Mechaâl, has also called on Morocco to abandon its betrayal. Mohammed VI continues to wear the dual hats of “president of the Al-Quds commission” and “commander of the faithful.” It is evident that official Morocco is held hostage by Tel Aviv, becoming its vassal. By selling its soul to the devil, it has surrendered all will to the Zionist entity and aligned itself with its criminal plots in Africa and around the world.
