Algiers, Algeria | July 15th, 2024 — The promising prospects of bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Algeria and Germany were emphasized, on Monday, by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mrs. Elisabeth Wolbers.
Excellent Bilateral Relations
The level of relations between the two countries is “excellent,” stated the German Ambassador following her meeting with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, marking the end of her mission in Algeria. She highlighted that these relations “have developed over the past few years thanks to several joint projects.”
Focus on Sustainable Economic Development and Energy Transition
The Ambassador noted that she discussed two “priority axes” of this cooperation with the President, citing sustainable economic development and energy transition. Specific emphasis was placed on hydrogen projects, particularly green hydrogen. In this regard, she expressed the existence of “promising prospects” for this cooperation, beneficial for both Algeria and Germany, as well as their partners. These projects, she mentioned, “are attracting the interest of many countries.”
Promotion of the German Language and Cultural Exchange
Mrs. Wolbers also recalled that the two countries have signed a cultural and scientific cooperation agreement, which, upon its entry into force, will intensify bilateral cooperation. This will allow the German Cultural Institute in Algiers, “Goethe,” to work more towards developing cultural exchanges between the two parties, alongside promoting the German language in Algeria.
