Promotion of Daïras to Rank of Delegated Wilayas: A Process Aligned with Development Strategy, Affirms Minister Merad

ALGIERS- During a working visit to the administrative district ‘Daïra’ of Boussaâda (M’sila Province), the Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies, and Territorial Planning, Brahim Merad, emphasized that the promotion of certain Daïras to the rank of delegated wilayas aligns with a development strategy aimed at promoting local development and the optimal exploitation of socio-economic assets, particularly in tourism, agriculture, and industry.
Merad assessed the progress of development projects and the deployment of technical and administrative measures, ensuring that the delegated wilaya can fulfill its missions effectively. The minister highlighted the strategic importance of the Ain Eddis airport extension project in Boussaâda for the region’s development plan, emphasizing its role in enhancing attractiveness for investments, especially in tourism.
During the visit, Merad also inspected the final stages of the construction of a mobile brigade headquarters for the judicial police in the same Daïra, emphasizing the importance of establishing all security structures at the administrative district ‘Daïra’ level to ensure effective mission fulfillment. He underscored that citizen security and property protection are top priorities for public authorities.
The Minister inaugurated the headquarters of the secondary unit of the civil protection in Boussaâda, emphasizing the importance of resilient management for preventing and addressing various risks. The minister listened to an exposition by the Wali of M’sila on the development indicators of the Boussaâda administrative district and measures in place to enhance the operational efficiency of administrative and technical services.
In the official installation ceremony of the delegated wali of Boussaâda, Riad Benahmed, Merad reiterated Algeria’s commitment to the development of the region, highlighting its cultural and religious heritage. He emphasized that the creation of delegated wilayas is part of a comprehensive approach to strengthen the development process and diversify the national economy based on the territories’ potential.
Merad stressed that promoting Boussaâda will contribute significantly to development efforts, improve basic services, and address citizens’ expectations. He called for collaboration with local stakeholders to outline an action plan that revitalizes Boussaâda, making it an attractive city beyond national borders. The completion and operation of the airport extension project were highlighted as factors that would increase the region’s attractiveness, particularly for tourism-related investments.
Merad concluded by emphasizing the identification of economic investment opportunities, especially in agriculture and processing industries. He underscored the need for administrative mobilization to open doors for citizens and address their vital concerns, facilitating closer decision-making centers for citizens.
