Public Works Minister Lakhdar Rekhroukh Inspects Key Infrastructure Projects in Algiers

Algiers, Algeria | July 25th, 2024 — On Wednesday, Lakhdar Rekhroukh, Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, conducted a working and inspection visit in the Algiers province, focusing on several key projects under his sector. Accompanied by the Wali of Algiers, Mohamed Abdennour Rabhi, Rekhroukh assessed the progress of various infrastructure initiatives, according to a ministry statement.

Among the projects inspected was the southern ramp of the Anassers, specifically the third segment connecting Sefsafa and Djenane Sfari over a distance of 7.1 kilometers. This project, which includes two technical infrastructures and a dual carriageway, aims to alleviate traffic congestion on Route RN1 and in the Bir Khadem and Shaoula municipalities.

During the visit, Rekhroukh emphasized the importance of removing obstacles and accelerating work to ensure the project’s completion within the scheduled timeframe.

Additionally, Rekhroukh reviewed the development of the entrance to the multimodal station, which involves constructing an interchange at the intersection of RN1 and the southern ring road. This project is designed to ease traffic flow along the route connecting Dar El Beida, Ben Aknoun, and Zéralda, as well as RN1 between Algiers and Blida.

The project includes extending tunnels by over 300 meters and building an interchange at the road junction. The new multimodal station is set to become a central hub for various public transportation modes.

The minister instructed the executing companies to mobilize all necessary resources to expedite the construction, with a target completion date set for the end of September.
