ALGIERS- On the evening of Thursday, March 7, 2024, the Algerian Red Crescent, under the leadership of its president, Dr. Ibtissem Hamlaoui, spearheaded a monumental humanitarian effort. The organization launched a massive aid caravan from the central warehouse located in the Blida province, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing mission to support communities in need across Algeria.
The caravan, comprising fifteen trailers laden with more than 250 tons of essential aid, embarked on a journey destined for eleven provinces throughout the country. These provinces include Bejaia, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Setif, Sidi Bel Abbès, Annaba, Guelma, Constantine, Djanet, Bechar, and Ouled Djelel.
The initiative, which underscores the Algerian Red Crescent’s unwavering commitment to alleviating suffering and providing assistance to vulnerable populations, represents a collaborative effort aimed at reaching those most in need, especially in remote and underserved areas.
The event garnered significant attention and support from local authorities, with the Governor of Blida, Mr. Brahim Ouchen, and the President of the State People’s Council, Mr. Daoud Abdel Moomen, among the guests in attendance. Their presence highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between government entities and humanitarian organizations in addressing pressing societal needs and promoting solidarity and compassion within Algerian society.
