Algiers, Algeria – In a testament to its unwavering commitment to advancing the field of scientific research, Algeria has once again secured the top position in the Arab citation and impact biometric indicator (ARCIF) rankings for the year 2023. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Algeria has maintained its leading position in this prestigious ranking.
A press release from the General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT) at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research revealed that Algeria’ scholarly contributions were particularly noteworthy this year. Out of a total of 1,155 Arab scientific journals meeting the rigorous standards of the ARCIF indicator, a staggering 445 journals were hailing from Algeria. This represents a significant increase compared to the previous year when Algeria had 370 journals in the ARCIF ranking.
The remarkable achievement showcases the continuous efforts and significant strides made by Algeria in the realm of scientific research. The ARCIF indicator has become a vital platform for assessing the impact of scientific journals published by Arab countries, and Algeria’s dominant presence at the forefront is a testament to the nation’s commitment to scholarly excellence.
Among the 2023 ARCIF rankings, Algerian journals not only secured top positions but also excelled in specific academic disciplines at the Arab level. Notably, a journal published by the University of Laghouat in the field of Letters and Human Sciences clinched the first position in its category.
Moreover, two other Algerian journals attained 7th and 10th positions in the same specialty, out of a total of 251 journals competing in the field. This stellar performance underscores the diversity and richness of Algerian scientific contributions.
In the field of political science, a journal published by the Dar Arabi Center for Research and Studies emerged as the leader out of 68 journals referenced in this particular field. This recognition is a testament to the depth of research and scholarship in Algeria, encompassing a wide array of academic domains.
The ARCIF indicator, established by e-Marefa1 in 2013, stands as a crucial bibliometric tool aimed at quantifying the influence and impact of scientific journals published by Arab countries. The selection of journals for the ranking is based on a comprehensive assessment of 32 criteria. These criteria include stringent standards for publication, the quality of editorial content, and the journal’s reach both within the Arab region and on the international stage.
Algeria’s consistent reign at the top of the ARCIF rankings is not only a source of pride for the nation but also a testament to its unwavering dedication to advancing the field of scientific research. The nation’ scientific community, supported by government initiatives and institutions, continues to raise the bar for excellence and set a high standard for the region’s academic achievements.
