ALGIERS– French judicial authorities have opened an investigation for rape into Moroccan soccer player Achraf Hakimi , a source close to the investigation confirmed on Tuesday.
The Nanterre prosecutor’s office, just outside of Paris, is leading the investigation, the source added.
“French authorities are investigating a 23-year-old girl who came to the police station to claim she had been raped by the player”.
Spanish-born Moroccan Hakimi is a full-back for Paris Saint-Germain and plays for the Moroccan national side. “The Nanterre prosecutor’s office does not wish to comment on this ongoing investigation, as the information already published jeopardizes the inquiries necessary for finding the truth,” said the prosecutor’s office.
Although the alleged victim refused to file a complaint against Hakimi, the prosecution opened an investigation due to the seriousness of the charges against the football player and his reputation.
PSG, for its part, has not yet reacted publicly to these accusations against its player, but declared that it will cooperate fully with the legal authorities in the framework of their investigation.
