ALGIERS- The director of education and training at the Ministry of Higher Education, Djamel Boukezzata, announced that there are over 5,000 open positions for magister and doctorate holders during the financial year 2023. This comes after President Tebboune’s decision to reduce the unemployment rate among the Algerian elite by recruiting these graduates to university positions.
Boukezzata explained that the recruitment will be for type B university teaching assistant positions, researchers at the level of scientific and technological establishments, as well as administrative positions in various ministerial sectors. He also mentioned that recruitment by contract is possible, with plans for contractualization for researcher positions over a period of 3 years or teacher trainers with a contract for a period of one year renewable automatically.
According to the figures provided by the digital platform, there are 7,000 graduates identified for these positions. This significant number has prompted the Baddari department to begin thinking about a new strategy for recruiting the elite. Boukezzata emphasized the importance of supporting students at university and post-graduation to help them structure their personal professional projects. He believes that students should be creators of jobs and wealth, not just eternal job seekers.
Overall, this announcement is a positive step towards reducing unemployment among the Algerian elite and providing opportunities for magister and doctorate holders.
