ALGIERS- In an encouraging development, the Ministry of National Education has announced that the success rate for the BEM (middle-school examination) has reached an impressive 60.97% at the national level. This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of the students who participated in the June 2023 session of the exam.
According to the press release issued by the Ministry on Sunday, a total of 788,703 school-going candidates registered for the BEM exam, which took place from June 5 to 7, 2023. Out of these candidates, an overwhelming majority of 781,960 were present during the examination. This significant turnout demonstrates the importance placed on education by the students and their commitment to their academic pursuits.
The BEM exam assesses students’ knowledge and skills in various subjects, including mathematics, science, history, geography, and languages. To successfully pass the exam, students need to achieve an average score equal to or greater than 9.5 out of 20.
Out of the school-going candidates present, a remarkable 476,760 candidates have been admitted to the next stage, marking a significant milestone in their educational journey. This translates to an admission rate of 60.97%, reflecting the strength of the education system and the dedication of teachers and educators who have contributed to the students’ learning and preparation for the exam.
The press release further highlights that 513,683 students, which accounts for 65.13% of the candidates, have successfully secured admission to the first year of secondary school. The Ministry of National Education commends the students for their impressive performance on the BEM exam and extends its appreciation to the teachers, school staff, and parents who have supported and guided them throughout their educational journey. This achievement serves as a testament to the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved in nurturing the potential of the nation’s youth.
