ALGIERS- A second call for tenders for the construction of solar power plants with a capacity of 2000MW will be launched in November 2023. This call for tenders will follow that launched by the Sonelgaz group at the end of February, for the construction of 15 photovoltaic solar power plants, spread over 11 wilayas in the south and the high plateaus, for a total power of 2000MW. The national renewable energy program provides for the production of 15,000 MW by 2035.
The announcement was made by Green Energy Cluster Algeria, whose Chairman of the Board, Mehdi Bendimerad and Managing Director, Boukhalfa Yaici, were received Thursday, April 13, by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab.
During this meeting, which lasted 1h30, several points concerning the development of renewable energies in Algeria were discussed, according to Green Energy Cluster Algeria, who specified that the Minister of Energy and Mines, “reassured local actors, members of the Green Energy Cluster Algeria, of the will of the public authorities to develop renewable energies in close collaboration with national operators”.
“Local operators are invited to participate in the 2000MWp call for tenders because the terms of participation will be simplified. This will be the subject of an addendum from CEEG”, indicated the same source.
