ALGIERS- Participating in the ministerial meeting of African countries members of the UN Security Council in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Sunday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, called for preserving the current momentum characterizing the joint work of African countries in supporting just causes worldwide, starting with the Palestinian issue and the decolonization of Western Sahara.
According to a statement from the ministry, Mr. Attaf also commended the coordination efforts of the three African countries members of the Security Council, namely Algeria, Mozambique, and Sierra Leone, aimed at enhancing the influence of African countries within this important UN organization.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed Algeria’s commitment to unify the positions of African countries to safeguard the continent’s interests and defend just causes in Africa and worldwide in accordance with the resolutions of the Oran process.
According to the MAE’s statement, participants in the meeting pledged to further strengthen the work of consultation and coordination within the UN Security Council.
The participants also expressed their support for the resolution proposed by Algeria for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
