“In the backdrop of historical events and continuing challenges, a central focus of our efforts has been to address human rights issues, primarily the unjust war imposed upon us in the 20th century. This initiative serves as the primary agenda of our party, alongside broader political concerns that we intend to raise within various international institutions. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported us in reaching these institutions, which play a vital role in our mission,” said Akorouali.
And to add: “Today, we are dedicating our efforts to the file that contains a significant section on the subject of toxic gases used against us during the war, with the assistance of colonial and imperialist powers, such as France, Spain, and the Alaouite regime. Notably, these toxic gases originated from Germany.”
The Rif National Party’s decision to pursue legal action at the United Nations Human Rights Commission signals a significant step towards addressing long-standing grievances and human rights violations in the Rif region. Their determination to utilize international legal mechanisms to seek justice serves as a testament to their commitment to the cause of the Rif population. The case submitted in Geneva is expected to draw the attention of the international community and initiate a dialogue about the human rights situation in the Rif.

Commemorating the Legacy of Mohsen Fikri and Denouncing Ongoing Struggles
The transition from Switzerland to Belgium signifies the continuous struggle of the Riffians towards achieving independence. In Belgium, the Riffians have displayed remarkable resilience and determination against the violations by the Moroccan occupation.
Mourad Belqjar reflects on Ocober 28th, 2016, recalling the dictatorial Moroccan regime’s assassination of the freedom fighter Mohsen Fikri. “We are here today in Geneva to commemorate his memory and to denounce the chemical bombs that were dropped on our resistants. We will not remain silent.”
In this vein, Nihal Ahbade asserts that they are “present in Belgium to commemorate the seventh anniversary of Mohsen Fikri’s assassination, which was not the first crime committed by the oppressive regime. We are here to send a clear message to the Moroccan regime that we will not forget their heinous crimes.”
Malak Temsaman, on her part, emphasizes that they “stand in Belgium to commemorate the memory of the martyr Mohsen Fikri, who was assassinated by the Moroccan regime seven years ago, crushed by a dumpster.” They want to convey to the regime that they will remain steadfast until they reclaim the land their ancestors fought for.
Mohand Al-Khalfaoui also moved from Geneva to Belgium to commemorate this painful memory, recalling the heinous crime of the past. Youba states that the Rif region’s inhabitants responded to the call of the martyr to organize this gathering, attended by hundreds of Rifian activists from various European countries. “This demonstration follows one held in Geneva just 24 hours ago, condemning these heinous crimes,” he stressed.
Furthermore, Sheikh Djalel emphasizes their presence to condemn the arbitrary detention of free Riffians, including, among others, Nasser Zefzafi and Sheikh Djaloul, and all those imprisoned in Moroccan jails. This gathering stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to justice and freedom.
