ALGIERS- The National Democratic Rally (RND) conveyed its contentment, via a public announcement on Sunday, regarding the accomplishments of the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit convened in Algiers from February 29 to March 2.
Initially, the party emphasized the significant representation, observing the participation of eight heads of state, alongside the accession of Mauritania, Senegal, and Mozambique as new members.
Additionally, the RND made mention of the Algiers Declaration, which not only underscored the alignment of member states’ stances but also issued explicit cautions against any endeavors aimed at undermining their resolutions, endangering their interests, or manipulating the global gas market.
According to the RND, the Algiers Summit voiced its disapproval of external interventions and pressures from Western nations, notably the United States of America, especially concerning matters such as gas price regulations, unilateral imposition of fiscal policies, and the discourse on climate change. It reaffirmed the autonomy of member states of the Forum over their natural assets.
Furthermore, the RND commended the inclusion of African nations and the establishment of a trilateral meeting every quarter involving Algeria, Tunisia, and Mauritania to synchronize positions on shared concerns.
