ALGIERS– The Russian Ambassador to Algeria, Valerian Shuvaev, has confirmed that Algeria is at the top of list of the countries eligible to join the “BRICS” economic group, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. He also stressed the importance of cooperation between Russia and Algeria, in preparation for the state visit that President Tebboune will make to Moscow next May.
Ambassador Shuvaev expressed his satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between the two countries, reflected in the numerous visits of Russian officials to Algeria.
The ambassador also mentioned the promotion of the Algerian tourist destination to Russian tourists, as well as the need to further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
Finally, the Russian Envoy Shuvaev confirmed that today’s world has put an end to the era of unipolarity, underlining the importance of strong poles, like China and India, as well as the regions of Arab and African world.
He also addressed the controversy around the security company “Wagner”, stressing that its presence is legal and in agreement with the governments of the countries where it operates.
