Algiers, Algeria | November 28th, 2024 — On November 27, 2024, the Russian oceanographic research vessel “Yantar,” part of the Russian Navy’s fleet, docked at the port of Algiers, according to an official statement from the Algerian Navy Command. The “Yantar” is renowned for its advanced scientific capabilities, particularly in deep-sea exploration and marine research.
This visit is being seen as an important step in strengthening the long-standing ties between Algeria and Russia, particularly in the fields of naval cooperation and scientific research. The ship, equipped with state-of-the-art technology for marine investigations, will contribute to enhancing Algeria’s research capacities in oceanography and related disciplines.
