ALGIERS, August 9, 2023- The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) has taken a significant stride towards harnessing its rich mineral wealth as the SADR Petroleum and Mines Authority (SADRPMA) signs a pivotal Mineral Exploration Agreement with “Nomad Exploration Pty Ltd,” an Australian company renowned for its expertise in resource exploration. This historic agreement, executed in accordance with the SADR Mining Law 02/014, marks the issuance of Exploration Permit EP012, paving the way for intensive mineral exploration efforts across a sprawling 2,000 square kilometers in the Oum Abana area of the Liberated Territories.

Exploration Beyond Boundaries

Nomad Exploration Pty Ltd, armed with cutting-edge technology and a commitment to responsible resource development, is set to redefine mineral exploration paradigms in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. With a focus on precision and efficiency, the company aims to employ advanced satellite-based remote sensing techniques as the cornerstone of its exploration endeavors under the newly granted permit. This initial phase will be subsequently supplemented by comprehensive field activities, encompassing meticulous geophysical and geochemical surveying methods.

A Growing Legacy

The awarding of this exploration license represents the fifth such instance where SADRPMA has recognized the exceptional potential of Sahrawi mineral resources. This landmark initiative stands alongside four existing exploration licenses, co-held by “Hanno Resources Pty Ltd” and “Serenity Exploration Pty Ltd,” collectively encompassing the Liberated Territories of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.

Championing Sovereignty and Sustainability

The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic’s dedication to modern governance is underscored by the establishment of the SADRPMA in 2014 and the formulation of a progressive mining law. These licenses, including the recent EP012, are emblematic of the SADR’ steadfast pursuit of full sovereignty. Rooted in the undeniable right to self-determination and permanent sovereignty over its natural resources, this forward-looking strategy adheres to the principles of international law and the UN’s legal opinion on commercial activities within Western Sahara.

Global Collaboration for Prosperity

A proud member of the African Union, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic has persistently asserted its sovereign authority over Western Sahara. The issuance of Exploration Permit EP012 signifies not only a milestone in mineral exploration but also exemplifies the SADR’s commitment to collaboration on a global scale, inviting partners like Nomad Exploration Pty Ltd to participate in the responsible and sustainable development of its untapped mineral treasures.

As the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic embraces the future while honoring its history, the signing of the Mineral Exploration Agreement and the bestowing of Exploration Permit EP012 stand as testament to a nation’s resolve to unlock its natural potential for the greater good of its people and the world at large.
