Algiers, Algeria | July 23rd, 2024 — In a forceful address during the International Seminar on the Algerian Revolution’s African Dimension at the El Aurassi Hotel in Algiers, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, the Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria, vehemently condemned those who have established normalized relations with the Zionist entity. He proclaimed that these individuals would be relegated to the “dustbin of history,” reflecting a profound opposition to these diplomatic maneuvers.

Ambassador Taleb Omar’s statement underscored the enduring legitimacy of the Sahrawi cause, emphasizing that the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination has been affirmed by a range of international legal institutions, including the International Court of Justice and various European and African courts. He positioned the Sahrawi issue as a fundamental aspect of international justice and self-determination, bolstered by substantial international legal support.

In his remarks, the Ambassador praised Algeria for its unwavering dedication to African liberation causes, particularly the Sahrawi struggle against colonialism. He described Algeria as a “sanctuary for revolutionaries,” acknowledging its crucial role in Africa’s liberation movements throughout history. According to Taleb Omar, Algeria has not only significantly contributed to the freedom of African nations but also continues to robustly support liberation causes in key international forums, including the United Nations Security Council and the International Court of Justice.

Taleb Omar’s comments highlighted Algeria’s ongoing commitment to the decolonization process and its steadfast defense of the rights of oppressed peoples. He reaffirmed that Algeria remains a staunch ally in the fight against colonialism and imperialism, underscoring its continued support for the Sahrawi people and other liberation movements across the continent.
