ALGIERS- General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, has affirmed that “the Federal Republic of Germany remains a quality partner for Algeria, with which we aim to strengthen our bilateral relations.”

This statement came after an audience granted by General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha to Jasper Wieck, Political Director at the German Federal Ministry of Defense and Advisor for Foreign and Security Policy to the Minister of Defense. Wieck is on a working visit to Algeria leading a high-level delegation.

The audience included high-ranking officers from the People’s National Army (ANP) and the Ministry of National Defense, as well as the German Ambassador to Algiers and members of the German delegation, according to a statement from the ministry.

In his address, Saïd Chanegriha reiterated Algeria’s willingness “to further consolidate” bilateral military cooperation and “to embark on a new dynamic capable of realizing the objectives set by our two institutions.” He discussed ways to “strengthen it to the level of the quality of relations” between Algeria and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Chief of Staff expressed confidence that the meeting would be fruitful and open new perspectives for cooperation in the areas of security and defense. He emphasized the importance of mutual efforts to promote stability and security globally.

Jasper Wieck, acknowledging the warm reception, praised the “firm commitment he observed from the Algerian side for strengthening cooperation” and “consultation between the two countries on areas of common interest, with a view to promoting security and stability worldwide.”

During the meeting, both parties reviewed the prospects of bilateral military cooperation and discussed means to develop and strengthen coordination on matters of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on current challenges in the world, particularly in the Mediterranean Basin and the African continent, as per the statement from the Ministry of National Defense.
