Saudi Arabia Adopts Western Sahara Map, Rebukes Moroccan Misinformation Campaign

ALGIERS- Saudi Arabia’s official television network aired a map of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) with its full boundaries, reaffirming the kingdom’s commitment to recognizing Western Sahara instead of succumbing to the fallacy of a “Moroccan Sahara.”
This move by Saudi Arabia aims to dispel any ambiguity regarding its stance on the Western Saharan issue, in contrast to the baseless assertions propagated by Moroccan authorities. These assertions lead a deceptive campaign to misinform the Moroccan people, suggesting that Saudi Arabia had “banned” the use of the term “Western Sahara” in various institutions, educational centers, government agencies, ministries, universities, technical and vocational training institutions, scouting associations, and all stakeholders in higher, vocational, and electronic education.
In response to this misinformation, Saudi Arabia’s official television broadcasted the map of Western Sahara, marking a clear rejection of Morocco’s attempts to manipulate public opinion. The broadcast serves as a direct rebuttal to the false and unfounded claims disseminated by Moroccan channels.
Observers note that Saudi Arabia’s decision to air the map of Western Sahara comes as a direct response to the misleading statements made by Moroccan authorities and disseminated through Moroccan media outlets.
