Seven (7) years in prison against former minister Abdelmalek Boudiaf

ALGIERS- The economic and financial penal pole of the tribuanl of Sidi M’hamed (Algiers) condemned, Tuesday, the former Health Minister Abdelmalek Boudiaf to a seven (7) years prison term, accompanied by a fine of 4 million Da.

Abdelmalek Boudiaf is being prosecuted for illicit enrichment, money laundering and its concealment within the framework of a criminal group, in addition to the granting of unjustified advantages when concluding contracts.

Abdelmalek Boudiaf’ son was also sentenced to 4 years in prison, while his daughter received an 18-month suspended prison sentence. The wife of the main defendant was acquitted.

The same body also pronounced an 18-month prison sentence against the former acting director general of the Central Hospital Pharmacy (PCH), M’hamed Ayad.

Sentences ranging from acquittal to 4 years in prison were also pronounced against the other defendants in this case.
