SG of OIC Parliamentary Union Arrives in Algeria for UPCI Executive Committee Meeting in Constantine

ALGIERS- The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Parliamentary Union, Mohamed Khouraichi Niass, arrived in Algeria on Tuesday to participate in the 50th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Union of Parliaments of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UPCI), scheduled for February 15th and 16th, 2024, in Constantine.
Mr. Niass was welcomed at the Houari Boumediene-Algiers International Airport by Mohamed Yazid Ben Hammouda, a member of the UPCI Executive Committee, and the Secretary General of the National People’s Assembly, Salim Djalal, according to a statement from the lower house of Parliament.
The upcoming meeting in Constantine, initiated by the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali, in his capacity as President of the Parliamentary Union of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, will see the participation of the Permanent Committee on Economic and Environmental Affairs.
This meeting will focus on monitoring the implementation of decisions and recommendations from the 17th UPCI conference, held in Algiers in January 2023, and the adoption of the final report and the “Algiers Declaration.”
On Monday, Brahim Boughali chaired a meeting to evaluate the ongoing preparations for the 50th meeting of the UPCI Executive Committee. The meeting was attended by deputies Mohamed Yazid Ben Hammouda, a member of the UPCI Executive Committee, Riad Hannachi, and Boudjemaa Zenani, permanent members of the organization, as well as Deputy Djawad Boutraa, President of the Permanent Committee on Economic and Environmental Affairs of the UPCI.
Also present were the Secretaries General of the APN and the Council of the Nation, along with senior officials from both chambers and representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, as well as Higher Education and Scientific Research.
