The 21st International Tourism and Travel Fair (SITEV), back after an absence of 2 years due to Covid-19, focused on the promotion of internal tourism in order to attract the maximum number of tourists, both Algerians foreigners, in parallel with the launch of Saharan tourism next week.
This edition, being an appointment for the reinforcement of the destination Algeria, was marked by the remarkable participation of the various Algerian and foreign operators (managers of hotels, tourist and travel agencies and investors), who came to present their products and establish partnerships with professionals to enable the sector to contribute to sustainable economic development.
In this context, the Commissioner of the Show and Director General of the National Tourist Office (ONT), Saliha Nacer Bey stressed, in a statement to APS, the importance of this edition which “has combined authenticity and modernity in the design of exhibition stands with a modern twist”.
The activities of the Show focused on the promotion of tourism through the presentation of “diversified and rich” tourist circuits, like the traditional circuits relating in particular to thermal and seaside tourism as well as the presentation of new circuits by tourism and travel agencies and other environmental, mountain, archaeological and cultural tourism products, she said.
In this regard, she underlined that Saharan tourism was “strongly present in this edition, with the participation of 20 tourist agencies specialized in the organization of tourist excursions in Tassili N’Ajjer and Hoggar, as well as in El -Oued, Béchar, Timimoune and Taghit, while offering various products to attract tourists in this season”.

In addition, she praised the level of foreign participation in this fair, which saw “the presence of 31 countries, which showed their interest in the promising Algerian market, emphasizing the importance of establishing a relationship cooperation and partnership with Algerian operators”.
The investment component was in the spotlight, on this occasion, in order to encourage investors to carry out their hotel projects with a view to proposing, thus, competitive tourist offers by providing accommodation structures and services for the benefit of clients.
In this context, a director at the Hotel Investment Company (SIH), Sana Lahcen, underlined “the importance of supporting tourism investment at the level of the various structures, in particular the construction of hotels, training companies and shopping centers”.
For her part, the director of partnership and communication at the Hôtellerie, Tourisme, Thermalisme (GHTT) Group, Leila Chorfi, recalled the projects to be carried out by this group which manages 73 public hotels at the national level, concerning in particular the rehabilitation of these establishments and support for training to improve the level of services, considering that this fair is an “opportunity to make known the role of the GTTH in tourism”.
During its second day, the fair saw a large influx of visitors interested in the institutes and training centers participating in this event to introduce young people to the specialties available.
Concerning the foreign participations of countries such as Tunisia, Turkey, Italy, Spain and Russia, the representatives of these countries expressed their interest in the Algerian market, which they described as “promising”, considering their participation in this event as “an opportunity to establish a partnership with Algerian professionals and operators in order to exchange experiences and expertise”.
