ALGIERS– The National Railway Transport Company (SNTF) recorded, this morning, Thursday March 16, 2023, at 07:05 a.m., a locomotive collision with a self-propelled passenger train coming from Thenia towards the capital, which stopped at the station of the Algiers workshop, indicated the SNTF in a press release published on its Facebook page.
According to the first data available, the locomotive was heading towards the maintenance depot, before hitting the train from behind. A few minor injuries were recorded among the passengers, who were taken care of by the civil protection services, in addition to some minor material losses on the train.
The train has been diverted to maintenance workshops and train traffic at the suburban level is proceeding normally.
A technical investigation commission was immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident to inquire into the reasons for the accident. Some media announce 7 injured.
