ALGIERS- Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, inaugurated the construction of a solar energy production plant with a capacity of 200 megawatts in the province of El-Megheir on Monday.
According to the ministry’s statement, the completion of this project, located on a 400-hectare site in the locality of Tandala, is expected within 14 months.
The statement specifies that the project is part of a program to build 15 solar energy production plants with a total capacity of 2000 megawatts, with each plant ranging from 80 to 220 megawatts. These plants will be distributed across 12 provinces in the country, namely Béchar, M’Sila, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Batna, Laghouat, Ghardaia, Tiaret, El Oued, Touggourt, El Megheir, Biskra, and Ouled Djellal.
