Algiers, Algeria | July 9th, 2024 — The CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, welcomed, on Tuesday in Algiers, a high-level delegation from the Omani company Abraj Energy Services, led by its CEO Saif Al Hamhami. The visit aimed to discuss the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two companies on April 24, 2024, in Oman. The meeting took place at the headquarters of Sonatrach in the presence of senior executives from both companies, according to a communiqué from Sonatrach.
The visit by the Omani delegation is part of a working trip to Algeria to explore the practical aspects of the MoU. To facilitate this, a joint commission has been established to oversee the implementation of the agreement. The commission will address various areas, including technical operations such as well services and drilling, potential cooperation opportunities, and specialized training.
As part of their activities, the joint commission will visit production facilities under the exploration-production division in the Hassi Messaoud region. They will also tour several Sonatrach subsidiaries involved in petroleum services, including the National Well Services Company (ENSP), the National Well Works Company (ENTP), the National Drilling Company (ENAFOR), the National Geophysics Company (ENAGEO), and Drilling Fluids Services Company (DFSP).
Regarding specialized training, the commission will visit the Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP) and the Exploration-Production Laboratories Department in Boumerdès, as well as the Sonatrach Management Academy (SMA) in Oran. These visits aim to bolster the technical and managerial capabilities of both companies through advanced training programs.
The working visit, scheduled from July 7 to 12, will culminate in a workshop where commission members will exchange views and discuss the roadmap for implementing the agreed-upon aspects of the MoU. This strategic collaboration between Sonatrach and Abraj Energy Services is expected to enhance technical operations and foster specialized expertise, contributing to the growth and development of both companies.
