ALGIERS- Sonatrach CEO, Rachid Hachichi, unveiled on Saturday a project for the development of gas fields in the southwest region of the country, with a production capacity of 14 million cubic meters per day. The project will be implemented across the sites of Hassi Ba Hamou, Hassi Tidjerane, and the Tinerkouk field.
Speaking at the celebration of the double anniversary on February 24 in Timimoun province, Mr. Hachichi emphasized the significance of the gas project, which forms part of the broader initiative for developing gas fields in the southwest region. The project aims to produce an estimated 14 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Mr. Hachichi also underscored the importance of commemorating the double anniversary of February 24, describing it as an opportunity to remember “the epic journey that allowed our people to secure independence, freedom, and consolidate economic sovereignty.”
Regarding the decision to nationalize hydrocarbons, Mr. Hachichi deemed it “bold,” affirming the Algerian people’s determination to regain sovereignty over their underground wealth.
Highlighting Sonatrach’s role, he emphasized its commitment to realizing sustainable development dimensions, which has enabled the company to achieve significant milestones and establish itself as one of the leading oil and gas companies regionally and internationally.
Mr. Hachichi extended his appreciation to all Sonatrach executives and employees for their dedication to fulfilling assigned tasks, stressing ongoing efforts to develop skills, expertise, and human resources to build strong teams capable of adapting to future challenges.
