ALGIERS- The CEO of the Sonatrach group, Toufik Hakkar, inked, today, the document bearing the anti-corruption policy of the oil group, as well as the related Code of Conduct, in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 37001, relating to the anti-corruption management system (SMAC).
The signing ceremony, enhanced by the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, was held at the general management of Sonatrach in the presence of high state authorities and institutions involved in the fight against corruption, members of the general assembly, and the board of directors of Sonatrach.
Sonatrach’s anti-corruption policy includes the company’s principles and commitments in this area. It aims to put in place control and prevention mechanisms that prohibit corruption and contribute to promoting a culture of ethics in the various transactions and activities of Sonatrach.
Mr. Hakkar also signed the Code of Conduct for the fight against corruption. This code provides guidance and defines the principles and requirements for compliance with the provisions of anti-corruption laws applicable to the company’s employers, partners, and suppliers.
Finally, Sonatrach seeks, through its adoption of the anti-corruption policy and Code of Conduct, the first of its kind in Algeria, to strengthen ethics within the company and establish the principles of transparency and good governance according to national and international norms and standards in the fight against corruption.
