Algiers, Algeria | February 6th, 2025 — Rachid Hachichi, CEO of Sonatrach, met today with the Minister of Energy and Mining of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vedran Lakić, at the headquarters of Sonatrach. Lakić was accompanied by a delegation from the Bosnian state-owned company, Energo Invest Sarajevo. The meeting was attended by several senior executives from Sonatrach, highlighting the strategic importance of this visit in fostering closer ties between the two nations.
Following the initial discussions, a comprehensive session took place, where the Bosnian delegation was briefed on Sonatrach’s extensive operations and capabilities within the energy sector. The meeting focused on exploring new avenues for collaboration, with both parties examining the potential for joint ventures and increasing trade between Sonatrach and Bosnia’s Energo Invest Sarajevo. The Bosnian delegation, led by CEO Mirza Ustamogic, expressed significant interest in enhancing commercial exchanges with Algeria, particularly in the energy and mining sectors.
The meeting underscores the growing interest Bosnia and Herzegovina has in strengthening its ties with Sonatrach, with the latter being recognized as a reliable and secure supplier across Europe. The two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation, particularly in developing energy infrastructure and expanding mutual investments.
This diplomatic engagement comes as part of Minister Vedran Lakić’s official visit to Algeria, signaling the continued efforts to deepen bilateral relations between Algeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The discussions highlight Sonatrach’s pivotal role as a key player on the European energy market, reinforcing its status as a trusted partner in energy supply and trade.
