Sonatrach CEO Rachid Hachichi Highlights Key Role in Diversifying European Energy Sources

Ravenna, Italy – The CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, took the stage at the Mediterranean Energy Conference and Exhibition (OMC) in Ravenna, Italy, to emphasize the significant role that Sonatrach plays in diversifying energy sources, particularly gas, for Europe. The event, one of the most prominent in the oil and gas industry in the Mediterranean region, has brought together energy sector ministers, top oil company officials, and experts to discuss the future of energy in the Mediterranean basin.

Hachichi, accompanied by the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, underscored Sonatrach’s unwavering commitment to ensuring energy security while contributing to the economic and social development of Algeria. Simultaneously, the company is actively working towards the gradual transition to cleaner energy sources as part of the global energy transition.

In his address, Hachichi outlined Sonatrach’s vision and strategy for strengthening partnerships with Italy and Europe as a whole. He highlighted the company’s efforts to guarantee the safe and reliable supply of gas to Europe, supporting the continent’s diverse energy needs.

The company’s CEO also discussed Sonatrach’s proactive initiatives in environmental preservation. The company has implemented a comprehensive package of measures aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and curbing greenhouse gas emissions across its industrial vehicles and operational sites.

The Mediterranean Energy Conference and Exhibition (OMC) has become an essential platform for discussing strategies related to gas supplies and the integration of new and renewable energies in the energy sector. This year’s event, themed “Reshaping the Energy Industry: Working for the Energy Transition,” gathers thought leaders and stakeholders to explore sustainable solutions for the region’s energy future.

As the event continues until the 26th of this month, Sonatrach’s presence and commitment to a more sustainable energy future are evident, reaffirming its pivotal role in diversifying energy sources and shaping the energy industry in the Mediterranean region.
