Sonatrach CEO Rachid Hachichi Holds Key Meetings with Global Energy Giants at Gastech Conference in Houston

Algiers, Algeria | September 20th, 2024 — On the third day of the Gastech Global Energy Conference in Houston, Sonatrach CEO Rachid Hachichi held working sessions with prominent global energy corporations, underscoring Algeria’s continued leadership in the energy sector. A statement from the state-owned company confirmed the significance of these engagements on Friday.
During the conference, Hachichi conducted a series of pivotal discussions with leading international energy firms. Notably, he met with representatives from Germany’s Linde Gas, a company specializing in helium and industrial gas production, and the U.S.-based Solar Turbines, known for manufacturing turbines essential to the energy industry. These meetings aimed at bolstering technological exchange and operational synergies between Sonatrach and its global counterparts.
In addition to these bilateral sessions, a high-level meeting took place with Ismail Abdelfatah, Director General of the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company (SMH). During this meeting, Hachichi expressed his ambition to reignite the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Sonatrach and SMH in 2023. This renewed partnership is expected to focus on shared energy development, technical cooperation, and human resource training.
The Mauritanian side emphasized its eagerness to benefit from Sonatrach’s extensive expertise in training and technical collaboration. In response, Hachichi reiterated Sonatrach’s readiness to resume its energy activities in Mauritania, affirming that an official meeting between the two parties will soon be organized to formalize further cooperation.
These engagements at Gastech reflect Sonatrach’s proactive stance in forging international partnerships while contributing to the global energy transition. By reestablishing ties with Mauritania and strengthening collaborations with leading global energy firms, Sonatrach continues to solidify its position as a key player in the global energy market, advancing innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
