ALGIERS- Rachid Hachichi, the CEO of the national oil and gas company Sonatrach, conducted a working and inspection visit to the Regional Production Directorate in Hassi Messaoud, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
During the initial phase of his visit, he held discussions with engineers and staff at the Irara living base, where a detailed presentation was given on the development and production plan, as well as the performance of oil fields operated by the directorate.
Subsequently, Hachichi visited the Bir Sebaa complex’s Oil Production and Treatment Center located in Touggourt. Operated by Sonatrach in partnership with Thai company PTTEP and Vietnamese company PVEP, the complex currently produces 20,000 barrels of crude oil per day and one million cubic meters of associated gas.
During the visit, the Sonatrach CEO emphasized the importance of monitoring the production capacity of the Bir Sebaa complex. He also provided instructions to initiate the second phase of its development program and emphasized the need for integrated exploitation of Touggourt field facilities to reduce production costs.
Hachichi also toured the Rama 2 production plant in Touggourt, recently enhanced with a second production line.
The Rama 2 first-phase production site was established as part of the development project for areas adjacent to Touggourt. It stands as one of the most significant development projects undertaken by the Regional Production Directorate in Hassi Messaoud, aiming to exploit fields in the region.
The success of this project relies on expanding the production collection network on-site to transport it to the primary separation units Rama 1 and 2. Subsequently, it will be transferred via pipelines to the Hassi Messaoud facilities for the final separation process.
The processing capacity of the Rama 2 primary treatment facility is estimated at 80,000 barrels per day.
The adjacent areas development project has gained momentum, especially after the commissioning of three compression units, facilitating the recovery and valorization of one million cubic meters of associated gas per day directed to the ZCINA center in Hassi Messaoud for processing.
The project has been entrusted to Sonatrach agencies as part of a strategy to promote local expertise, with key contributions from the Algerian Company for the Realization of Industrial Projects, the National Corporation for Major Oil Works, and the National Company for Civil Engineering and Construction, as highlighted in the statement.
