Sonatrach: Energy Minister inspects production facilities in Hassi Berkine, Tin Fouyé Tabankort

ALGIERS- The CEO of Sonatrach, Toufik Hakkar paid a working and inspection visit to the oil and gas facilities in Hassi Berkine and Tin Fouyé Tabankort to inquire about the pace of production operations and the conditions of workers, said a statement from the Group on Wednesday.
Mr. Hakkar was accompanied by a delegation of managers from the company, the acting Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), Hamou Touahria and the Secretary General of the National Union of Sonatrach, added the same source.
The CEO of Sonatrach began his visit to Hassi Berkine where he inspected the facilities of the oil storage and transport center relating to the pipeline transport activity, and listened to a technical presentation on the center’s activity and figures relating to oil flows and the centre’ storage capacities.
The Hassi Berkine oil storage and transport center is located 320 km from Hassi Messaoud and includes six tanks with a capacity of 247,000 M3. It ensures the storage of crude oil produced in the Barkine basin, before pumping at the Dispatching Center for Liquid Hydrocarbons (CDHL) in Haoud El Hamra, noted the press release.
The delegation went in the afternoon to the area of Tin Fouyé Tabankort, where the CEO of Sonatrach visited the gas complex operated in partnership between Sonatrach and TotalEnergies.
This visit made it possible to inquire about the pace of the implementation of the development plan adopted by the gas complex of Tin Fouyé Tabankort, a plan which provides for the drilling of 35 new wells and the installation of more than 150 km of collection networks, in addition to the modernization of industrial facilities and current control systems, with an estimated budget of 730 million dollars, specified the same source.
Mr. Hakkar also inspected the various current industrial units as well as the control room where he listened to detailed explanations on production levels.
These field visits “are essentially aimed at monitoring the implementation of the development plans on which Sonatrach is betting to relaunch production at the highest level in order to ensure the supply of the local market in oil and natural gas and a stable, durable and reliable supply to Sonatrach’s partners.
