Algiers, Algeria – December 24, 2023- Sonatrach, Algeria’s state-owned energy company, has entered into a partnership with the Ministry of Health to finance the procurement of medical equipment and supplies for the burn unit at the “Mohamed Boudiaf” Public Hospital in Ouargla province. The agreement was formalized on Thursday in a signing ceremony attended by high-ranking officials, including Sonatrach’s CEO, Rachid Hachichi, and the Ministers of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and Health, Abdelhak Saihi.
This collaborative effort aims to enhance medical services and elevate the standard of care provided to burn victims in the region. The initiative demonstrates Sonatrach’s commitment to supporting the healthcare sector and reflects the company’s role as a responsible corporate citizen contributing to national development.
The signed agreement underscores Sonatrach’s dedication to social responsibility and its ongoing commitment to being actively involved in local development projects, particularly in remote areas of the country. During the signing ceremony, Minister Arkab highlighted the significance of the agreement, emphasizing Sonatrach’s substantial contribution to improving public services, particularly in healthcare. Minister Saihi applauded Sonatrach’s efforts to enhance public health services and emphasized the company’s role in promoting social proximity. He reiterated that this collaboration aligns with the vision of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has prioritized the establishment of specialized burn units across the country.
CEO Rachid Hachichi expressed the company’s commitment to facilitating better healthcare access for burn victims, reducing the need for extensive travel and its potential adverse effects on patients’ health. The initiative reflects Sonatrach’s dedication to supporting healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that medical facilities are well-equipped to handle critical cases.
This collaboration is part of broader efforts to establish dedicated burn units in several regions of Algeria, with the aim of providing comprehensive coverage and specialized care for burn victims throughout the country.
