ALGIERS- A high-level delegation from Sonatrach, led by the CEO, Rachid Hachichi, participated in the fifth meeting of the CEOs of national oil companies from African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO) member countries. The event took place today in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo.
According to a statement from Sonatrach, this fifth edition provided an opportunity to discuss areas of cooperation among African oil companies, focusing on project financing, oil and gas infrastructure, regional markets, local content development, human capital enhancement, technologies, research and development, and renewable energy collaboration.
On the sidelines of the ministerial meeting, four partnership agreements in the field of training were signed between the Algerian Petroleum Institute (part of Sonatrach) and the following entities:
- National Oil Company of Congo (SNPC)
- Hydrocarbons National Society of the Democratic Republic of Congo (SONAHYDROC)
- National Oil Company of Benin
- Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC)
These specialized agreements in the oil and gas sector complement the ongoing training initiatives initiated by the Algerian Petroleum Institute with other petroleum companies from APPO member countries.
It’s noteworthy that Sonatrach previously hosted the fourth edition of this ministerial meeting on March 21, 2023, in Algiers.
The African Petroleum Producers Organization, established on January 27, 1987, in Lagos, Nigeria, serves as a platform for meeting, exchanging experiences, and fostering collaboration among its member countries. The recent agreements underscore Sonatrach’s commitment to regional cooperation, knowledge sharing, and human capital development in the oil and gas industry.
