Algiers, Algeria | May 23, 2024 — The national oil company, Sonatrach, announced on Thursday the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the American company ExxonMobil. This agreement aims at jointly developing hydrocarbon resources in Algeria.
The MoU will allow both parties to explore existing opportunities to develop hydrocarbon resources in the Ahnet Basin and the Gourara Basin. The partnership will focus on operational excellence, technological innovation, environmental respect, and best sustainability practices.
The signing ceremony took place at Sonatrach’s headquarters, presided over by the group’s CEO, Rachid Hachichi, along with senior officials from Sonatrach and a delegation from ExxonMobil.
