Algiers, Algeria | August 29th, 2024 — In a major demonstration of corporate social responsibility, Sonatrach, Algeria’s national hydrocarbons company, has significantly bolstered the healthcare infrastructure in El-Meniaa Province through the financing of crucial medical equipment. This initiative forms part of Sonatrach’s wider commitment to enhancing the well-being of communities throughout Algeria.
The donation includes a state-of-the-art 16-slice CT scanner, a fully-equipped ambulance, and a specialized water treatment facility designed for the dialysis unit at the Mohamed Chaabani Public Hospital. These advanced resources are poised to substantially elevate the quality of healthcare services in the region, particularly benefiting patients with kidney diseases and improving overall patient care.
Fatna Behhaz, Director of Health for El-Meniaa, underlined the transformative impact of the equipment, emphasizing its critical role in enhancing medical service capabilities and improving patient outcomes. The contributions are expected to bridge gaps in healthcare accessibility and treatment quality within the province.
Mokhtar Benmalek, Governor of El-Meniaa, applauded the initiative as a direct response to commitments made by the Minister of Energy and Mines during a recent visit to the area. He praised Sonatrach for its consistent support, noting that this marks the second major healthcare investment in El-Meniaa, following the company’s funding of a polyclinic in Hassi-Ghanem, located 60 kilometers north of the province.
This donation is part of Sonatrach’s broader social responsibility strategy, which includes over 70 projects aimed at advancing healthcare services across Algeria. By continually supporting local healthcare systems, Sonatrach reinforces its role as a socially conscious corporate entity, dedicated to improving the lives of Algerian citizens and contributing to the country’s sustainable development.
