Sonelgaz, Elec-El Djazaïr Forge Strategic Agreement to Bolster Local Production and Minimize Imports

The memorandum of understanding was signed by senior officials from Sonelgaz-Distribution and Sonelgaz-Services—subsidiaries of Sonelgaz—alongside Electro-Industries Azazga, a key subsidiary of Elec-El Djazaïr focused on producing transformers and electric motors. The ceremony was presided over by Mourad Adjal, CEO of Sonelgaz, and Mustapha Ferfera, CEO of Elec-El Djazaïr, with the presence of top executives from both entities, highlighting the importance of this collaboration.

This agreement is poised to significantly enhance the cooperation between Sonelgaz’s subsidiaries and Electro-Industries Azazga, aiming to support and expand national production capabilities. By sourcing high-quality electrical equipment domestically, the partnership aligns with the directives of Algeria’s highest authorities, who have emphasized the need to promote local production and increase the national integration rate. This initiative is crucial for fulfilling Sonelgaz’s ambitious infrastructure projects, including connecting remote regions, industrial zones, and agricultural areas to the national grid, as well as improving public services.

During the signing, Mourad Adjal highlighted that this protocol not only meets the presidential mandate but also represents a critical step towards achieving Algeria’s broader industrial goals. He pointed out that the collaboration among Sonelgaz and Elec-El Djazaïr’s subsidiaries reflects a shared commitment to advancing the country’s economic self-reliance. The procurement of essential electrical equipment from Electro-Industries Azazga is expected to play a pivotal role in Sonelgaz’s operations, ensuring that the infrastructure needs of the nation are met with locally produced, high-quality solutions.

Mustapha Ferfera expressed his gratitude for Sonelgaz’s ongoing support and reaffirmed Elec-El Djazaïr’s dedication to exceeding the expectations of Sonelgaz and the Algerian people.
