ALGIERS- The Chief Executive Officer of Sonelgaz, Mourad Adjal, presided over the ceremony for the construction of a 60/30-kilovolt electrical conversion center in the industrial zone of Ras Elma, located south of Sidi Bel Abbès.

This project is part of a national program, approved by the highest authorities of the country, aimed at supplying more than 50 industrial zones with electricity. Mr. Adjal explained, “This project is part of a significant program approved by the highest authorities of the country to generate 15,000 megawatts.” He emphasized that the construction of 3,000 megawatts of electrical energy will soon commence in over 15 stations nationwide.

Mr. Adjal also highlighted Sonelgaz’s commitment to improving public services and encouraging investors to implement their projects in industrial zones. He mentioned, “Electricity and gas have been distributed in more than 37 industrial zones and 65 activity zones across the country.”

Regarding the electrification of agricultural operations, he revealed that the program in the Sidi Bel Abbès province was nearly 100% complete, with over 53,000 agricultural enterprises connected to the electrical grid.

He affirmed that out of the 500 megawatts supplied to Sidi-Bel-Abbes, only 50% are utilized. Adding to this, “Sonelgaz has proactively initiated three major projects that will add 310 megawatts, ensuring sufficient electrical energy in the Sidi Bel Abbès province, surpassing the deadlines set for 2035.”
