Algiers, Algeria | June 13th, 2024 — As the hot summer season approaches, Mourad Adjal, the CEO of Sonelgaz, has reassured citizens about the electricity supply, promising a better summer compared to 2023. This announcement was made during the signing ceremony of a partnership contract between the sports company Aigles Noirs-ESS, owned by Sonelgaz, and the Algerian insurance company CAAT.
Adjal emphasized that numerous projects were completed between 2023 and 2024 to enhance public service. These projects were initiated following network failures at the end of the particularly hot summer of 2023, which led to numerous complaints about power outages.
Adjal highlighted that substantial funds were allocated to an emergency plan that included maintenance work, the renewal of electrical cables, the installation of transformers, and the construction of new power plants.
Adjal confidently stated, “Summer 2024 will be much better than 2023.” He noted that despite recent high temperatures in several regions, there were no power outages, indicating the effectiveness of the measures taken.
Adjal assured that Sonelgaz is dedicated to ensuring the well-being of citizens by providing a reliable electricity supply, especially during the hot summer months. He emphasized the importance of rational energy use and guaranteed that intervention teams will provide continuous 24-hour service to minimize any potential power cuts.
These efforts and assurances from Sonelgaz are expected to alleviate concerns, particularly for residents in southern regions where temperatures frequently exceed 40°C, necessitating the use of air conditioners.
Overall, the proactive measures and investments by Sonelgaz aim to provide a stable and sufficient electricity supply, ensuring a more comfortable summer for all Algerians.
