Souk Ahras University Shines in Times Higher Education Ranking

ALGIERS- Souk Ahras University has made a commendable mark among participating Arab universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, outperforming prestigious institutions both domestically and globally.

The university secured a 17.4% rating in the 2021 edition of the THE rankings, which considers five criteria: teaching quality in terms of pedagogical reputation, the ratio of Ph.D. students to faculty members, the ratio of faculty members to students, the ratio of Ph.D. holders to undergraduate students, and the university’s income to the number of faculty members.

Regarding the assessment of the university’s research environment, considering research reputation, publications per staff member, and research income per faculty member, Souk Ahras University achieved a 13.3% rating. In the category of research quality, evaluating the strength, excellence, and impact of research, the university secured an 18.1% rating.

The evaluation of the institution’s ability to contribute to industry and inventions, along with its ranking in impact factors, resulted in an 11.6% rating. International expectations, relying on the ratio of international students and faculty, as well as the number of international researchers in published research by university researchers, earned Souk Ahras University a 28.6% rating.

Souk Ahras University is eagerly anticipating the release of THE Impact Rankings, which measures universities’ commitment to sustainable development goals. The university has submitted a dossier containing all its achievements in this regard.

Recently appointed University Director, Noura Moussa, has directed a focus on scientific and pedagogical activities that contribute to enhancing the university’s visibility. She encourages professors and students to publish in journals with high impact factors, organize training courses in this field, and expand the network of relationships with the economic and social environment. These initiatives aim to reinforce the university’s position as a reservoir of ideas and a contributor to solutions in the community to which it belongs.
