ALGIERS- The Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Algeria, Mr. You Ki-Jun, highlighted on Thursday in Sétif the ongoing effort of his country to strengthen economic relations with Algeria through partnerships aimed at sustainable development and economic growth.
During a visit to the Samsung-Sinova factories in the industrial zone of Sétif, Mr. You Ki-Jun stated that the partnership between the two countries “extends beyond the production of household and electronic appliances, as it aims to create a future where our joint efforts will contribute to sustainable development, economic growth, and technological progress.”
“As we look towards the future, we celebrate this milestone as a symbol of our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and a better future for all,” added the head of the South Korean diplomatic mission in Algeria, as reported by the APS news agency.
During his tour of the three Samsung-Sinova factories, Mr. You Ki-Jun also emphasized that the establishment of these units in Algeria (Sétif) is an “important step” in the bilateral partnership between the two countries, opening up new opportunities by strengthening cooperation between South Korea and Algeria.
“Samsung, representing the pinnacle of Korean technological progress and innovation, alongside Sinova, a beacon of Algerian industrial ambition and capacity, symbolizes a bridge between our two nations, built on mutual respect, understanding, and shared aspirations for progress and prosperity,” the ambassador also said in his speech, adding that “this production line is evidence of what we can achieve together and represents a future where technology and cooperation open new horizons, improving the lives of many people in Algeria and beyond.”
A guided tour for media representatives was organized in the three factories specialized in the production of televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines.
The Director of Samsung Electronics in Algeria, Mr. Hunjoon Jung, stated that the initiative reflects the commitment of partners Samsung and Sinova to prioritize direct and open communication, allowing media representatives to directly observe the advanced processes in the company’s factories.
For Mr. Hunjoon Jung, the presence of the ambassador reflects the strategic importance of this bilateral cooperation in the industrial sector and further strengthens relations between the two countries.
These factories cover a total area of 75,000 m2, with 10,000 m2 specifically dedicated to the production of high-end televisions. Each of the manufactured appliances has its own integration rates ranging from 30 to 70%, reflecting a commitment to quality and efficiency, while awaiting the reception of the new air conditioner production factory, according to explanations provided on-site.
The visit also marked the inauguration of a showroom, the fourth nationwide, showcasing the company’s products, and the signing of an agreement with Al Baraka Bank in the field of Islamic finance, enabling the provision of financial solutions to bank customers wishing to purchase household appliances through consumer loans, in accordance with Islamic Sharia law.
