Speaker Boughali Meets with French Ambassador: Discussion on Bilateral Ties, International Affairs, and Economic Partnership

ALGIERS- The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, hosted the Ambassador of France to Algeria, Mr. Stéphane Romatet, in Algiers on Monday, as reported by a statement from the lower house of parliament.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the relations between the two countries, as well as issues related to history and partnership at both the parliamentary and economic levels. The role of the Algerian community in France in enhancing these relations was also highlighted in the statement.
“On the international stage, Mr. Boughali addressed the grave situation in the Gaza Strip and emphasized that lasting peace in the region cannot be achieved without a just solution to the Palestinian issue, while reaffirming Algeria’s commitment to the right to self-determination of the Sahrawi people in accordance with UN resolutions. Mr. Boughali also discussed Algeria’s comprehensive approach to resolving conflicts in the Sahel region,” the statement added.
“In turn, the French representative in Algeria expressed his belief in the existence of significant opportunities to develop relations between the two countries, affirming that Algeria and France face similar constraints and difficulties and share the same willingness to build a common future,” the APN’s statement continued.
Regarding economic partnership between the two countries, the French diplomat emphasized the importance of implementing new facilitations under Algeria’s new investment code, stating that French economic operators are increasingly interested in the investment opportunities offered by Algeria: “Mr. Romatet called for the implementation of all available means to revive partnership relations between the two countries,” the text concluded.
