Sputnik/ Algerian Ambassador to Moscow: Algeria’s Price for Freedom and Commitment to Peace

ALGIERS- The Algerian Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Boumediene Guennad, has reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering commitment to international cooperation and its dedication to fostering peace and stability within its geopolitical environment. In an exclusive interview with Sputnik, Ambassador Guennad highlighted Algeria’s significant efforts in Mali and Niger, aimed at restoring stability and security in the region as a whole.
Within this context, the Ambassador recalled the Prime Minister’s address at the “Russia-Africa” summit in St. Petersburg last July. During the summit, the Prime Minister emphasized that Algeria had paid a heavy price for its independence and freedom, while successfully responding to numerous requests for mediation to resolve crises and reduce tensions. Algeria, he stated, aspires to be a beacon of balance, mediation, and conciliation, contributing to the establishment of peace and security worldwide.
On the economic front, the Algerian diplomat emphasized Algeria’s openness to various international partners, guided by the principle of mutual benefit and a “winner-winner” approach. This commitment is exemplified by the issuance of new incentive laws since 2022, as part of the country’s new development strategy.
Turning to Africa, the Algerian Ambassador to Moscow underscored Algeria’s efforts to foster development across the continent, aiming for a true renaissance. Algeria is actively working towards enhancing infrastructure and facilities in Africa, recognizing the importance of a prosperous and thriving continent.
