ALGIERS- In a compelling address to parliamentarians this Sunday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune underscored the imperative of thinking about future generations, emphasizing the need to bequeath them an economic foundation independent of hydrocarbons.
The President articulated that steering away from an overreliance on hydrocarbons is vital to ensuring a resilient and diversified economy for the benefit of generations to come. He highlighted ongoing policies in pharmaceutical production and the automotive industry as promising initiatives that contribute to elevating the national economy to the status of emerging economies.
In a move to empower the youth and incorporate their perspectives into the legislative process, President Tebboune expressed his trust in the High Youth Council, reiterating that legal texts will pass through this council. This approach underscores the importance of involving the younger generation in shaping policies that will impact their future.
Addressing the role of civil society, the President indicated his commitment to strengthening the government’s ability to listen to the concerns of citizens through the National Civil Society Observatory. This initiative aims to enhance responsiveness to the needs and aspirations of the population, fostering a more inclusive and participatory governance model.
